Charmstone Cosplay is there for all the fandom. Plenty of SuperWhoLock, Merlin, Tolkien and countless other costumes! Charmstone is also a Trekkie, do I really need to say any more. Hold on…you think I do…will then continue to read.
Jack Nickelz: So tell us what first got you started in Cosplay?
Charmstone Cosplay: I started Cosplaying about 6 years ago when I was super into Star Trek. I sort of discovered the Cosplay fandom within that phase and it inspired me to start.
Jack Nickelz: What was your first Cosplay outfit?
Charmstone Cosplay: Naturally, being a Trekkie, my first Cosplay was Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation, then Spock from the original series! (These were at the same convention on two different days)
Jack Nickelz: How was it going to a convention in full gear?
Charmstone Cosplay: It was super exciting. It’s really weird at first getting the attention that Cosplayers get but yeah, still super fun.
Jack Nickelz: What has been some of your fav. Cosplays to do?
Charmstone Cosplay: My favorite Cosplays are quite varied. Fili the Dwarf is one I’m most proud of and I worked the hardest on, but sometimes the really simple and easy ones are fun, just because you can be in character but also very comfortable. An example being Sherlock or Merlin!
Jack Nickelz: Do you have a Cosplay that you are becoming known for?
Charmstone Cosplay: I’d say at present I’m most known for Castiel (Supernatural) and Merlin. Nothing too crazy obviously but they’re the ones I used to wear the most!
Jack Nickelz: How do you pick which Cosplay to do?
Charmstone Cosplay: I pick Cosplays solely on the character I’m obsessed with in the moment. I tend to start liking characters really fast so I try to put things together and decide on new Cosplays quickly.
Jack Nickelz: How long does it normally take you to do a Cosplay?
Charmstone Cosplay: Depends on the Cosplay. I don’t make a whole ton of them, I tend to mod other things I find and sometimes I get help from a friend. Fili took the longest, probably about two weeks of work.
Jack Nickelz: What’s the hardest Cosplay that you have had to do?
Charmstone Cosplay: Fili for sure. Geralt is probably quite complicated too but a friend made that one for me since she really liked the game and wanted to Cosplay another character from it.
Jack Nickelz: Who are some of the Cosplayers that you admire?
Charmstone Cosplay: I don’t actually do a lot of looking around in the Cosplay world anymore, but Rukaruka Cosplay who is a close friend of mine is great. Morgothia Cosplay is also a really good Cosplayed and a nicer person!
Jack Nickelz: Are there any Cosplays that you had to adjust because they were too revealing?
Charmstone Cosplay: Never. All of mine have covered just about everything, haha.
Jack Nickelz: Why do you think that Cosplay is becoming more main stream?
Charmstone Cosplay: I don’t honestly know. Cons are just steadily getting more and more popular every year and they’re starting to get noticed in media and all that. I guess that’s just starting to introduce more and more people to the concept and they’re trying it out.
Jack Nickelz: What do family and friends think about your Cosplaying?
Charmstone Cosplay: Family and friends are totally cool with it. In fact they think it’s really cool that I can become other people and characters!
Jack Nickelz: What are your thoughts on people saying Cosplay is becoming too corporate?
Charmstone Cosplay: I dunno about that. I mean, I think there is some merit to it. After all, some people are getting paid for it and people hire them for stuff and there are TV shows. It’s sort of one of the reasons I’ve slowed down on Cosplay, I don’t really care to see it.
Jack Nickelz: What future Cosplays can we expect to see from you this year?
Charmstone Cosplay: I don’t have many plans as of now. Athos from the Musketeers has been a long running project for me. Besides that, I had some plans for smaller and simpler characters, like Chris from Until Dawn and some other possibilities.
Jack Nickelz: Thank you for taking time out to do this. Is there anything else you would like to say to the fans?
Charmstone Cosplay: Not really, hah. Keep on Cosplaying, people.
